Imagine That Review

Imagine that is a children’s drama comedy film staring Eddie Murphy as the main character Evan. The movie is about Evan who works a lot and does not have any time for his daughter Olivia, who keeps trying to tell her dad companies that are worth investing in and ones that are going to flop, Evan soon finds out that his daughter was correct and starts spending more time with his daughter in a selfish act to improve his business this small time thing starts to become an obsession and his daughter does not want to see him again because she realises that he is only spending time with her because of the Goo-Gaaa her blanket, Evan soon has a large meeting in which he has been waiting for since he graduated, but turns the offer down because he finally noticed that he loves his daughter more than his work.

Eddie Murphy does a good job, but being in children’s movies is all he does and all I can see him in, but because of this he is very good in Imagine That. Evan’s daughter is played by Yara Shahidi who plays the role of the sweet disappointed daughter very well and I cant wait to see more films with her in because she is a good actor at her age. The film was directed by Karey Kirkpatrick who also directed the film over the hedge. The film has some deep meaning to it and is a very touching film, a completely original film that is good for anyone.

Land of the Lost Review

Land of the Lost is a comedy adventure, the plot is about a failed scientist who has been laughed at by the whole science world because he believes that he can travel to a parallel universe, and you will find out the rest. I went to see it on Friday the 30th of July on the opening day for normal cinemas and it had about 6 people in the 4:10 pm viewing maybe because the film looked a bit naff. Originally the film came from a T.V show called land of the lost in 1974 normally it is the other way round as we see the terminator films has created a T.V series. I did some research into the land of the lost T.V series it and watched some clips and found that the special effects back then were extremely bad at our time point now, even the movie didn’t have that great effects only a few parts looked real.

The plot itself isn’t that great and has no meaning behind it, but I have to admit that it is very funny at a few points and the main character is played by Will Ferrell who is very funny, a film he is from is wedding crashers. I didn’t go into the cinema with great expectations but came out after the film and found that those expectations were wrong. I advise you to go see it for the comedy and not for the plot.

The Proposal Review

This is a film about a mean boss that is from Canada and she is working in the USA and then she is told that she is going to be deported back t o Canada and loose her job so she tells her bosses and the Deportation company that she is getting married with her sectary who does not know of any of this.

Overall the film was a very predictable film as most things already you know are going to happen because of the trailer that reveals half of the film, the trailer has a lot of the jokes in it so then when you come to watch the film the jokes are not funny the second time around. Sandra Bullock plays the boss woman does a good job and we can see her versatility because she can play a very serious person and a very fun and loving person. Ryan Reynolds plays Andrew who is the guy who is blackmailed into marrying her plays a good part and if funny the first time round.

The film is set in Alaska and we can explore its many beauties through this film as we are given stunning views. I feel that the director Anne Fletcher did a good job although I thought that the story let the film down and not her. If you are looking for a romantic comedy with a bad plot and are just in the cinema to chill then you would enjoy this film. I advise you to stay away from the trailers if you have not already seen them, because it will ruin most of the film.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is a thrilling film with lots of action and incredible special effects and we are introduced to lots of the same characters, this film is based on the book from J.K Rowling this film is the sixth instalment from the Harry Potter series.
The film is about Lord Voldemort who has given Draco Malfoy played by Tom Felton a mission to penetrate Hogwarts magic defences. The film contains much more but I think that this might ruin the impact you get when you watch it, I have read the book and I can remember some bits but because I read it a while ago I didn’t remember all of it. I feel as if you do need to have some knowledge of the series of films or the books. I cannot tell you if the film is missing some parts of the book or not but I am going re-read the last two books at least because I think that they are the best two and I have watched the other films to many times so the books would be boring.

An issue I had with the film and this may have only been at my cinema or maybe some other peoples, we were warned at the start of the film that there would be a 15 minute interval around halfway through the film, that was very annoying when it happened because I am a person who really likes to feel part of the film and be engulfed by it, but because of this interval I lost the feel of the film, if this has happened to you please leave a comment saying if you have. I feel that this break was stupid because it was a full cinema so 200 people were in the room and they say the break it so you can go for the toilet and stretch your legs but if 200 people try to go to the toilet at the same time it does not work, my thought was that they do this so you say oh I’ll go get a drink or some snack, another way to ruin a film. The film was 154 minutes and that is about 5 minutes more than Transformers 2 and that did not have a break so how does this extra 5 minutes come to a 15 minute break. This film was again as I said in Transformers 2 it is to long! The book is huge and I can’t wait too see how long the last book is going to be. Overall the film is very good and a better film that Order of the Phoenix because it has more action in it and the actors are better because of their age. The film was full of small children who are supposed to be the first year of Hogwarts but you can see that they are out of place and lost but the director David Yates did an ok job at controlling them. The film has left me waiting for the next film! And it should be a hit for everyone; it is a 12A because there are a few scary scenes but it is not persistent throughout the film. So if you are a Harry Potter fan and you have not already seen it go watch it.

Ice Age 3 Review

This is a computer animated film about Sid stealing some dinosaur eggs and then getting into trouble with the real mother of the eggs. Manny (a large male mammoth) has the voice of Ray Romano and his mammoth lover called Ellie whose voice is Queen Latifah are chasing after Sid after he gets taken, they soon discover the land of the dinosaurs. This film Is in both 3D and normal, I watched the normal version because of it being the only thing out in my cinema at the time, the problem I saw straight away with it being in both formats is that when you are watching the normal version you see a lot of things that are supposed to pop out at you in the 3D format, I feel that this lets it down because you are often faced with a large face on the screen appearing to come towards you and it just does not we see most of the characters from front on view which would add the effect of 3D.

My thoughts on the film is that it is certainly a family film but if you are an adult I don’t recommend you going to see it on your own or with friends, this is because most the humour in the film is a bit childish but not all, around me I could here laughter through most of the film but this was mainly from children. I have watched the first two films but not paid any attention to either of them but you don’t need to watch them because they are very different. There was a new lead character added called Buck whose voice is by Simon Pegg, Simon Pegg is very English and is very funny. Overall the film was ok not a favourite because it was a bit to childish but the animation was good and the film is an hour and 30 minutes so not to long.

Transformers Revenge Of the Fallen Review

Transformers 2 Revenge of The Fallen

This is my first review. The main plot is about Sam who is played by Shia LaBeouf and the auto bots (the good robots) and they are trying to stop the decepticons (bad robots) from getting this shard from a cube that transforms electronic things into robots, and bringing a Large evil robot called the fallen down to earth to eat the sun.If anyone is looking for a funny action packed love story, this is your film! Transformers 2 is for anyone, and I mean anyone, some critics online are saying it is a bad film, but don’t listen to them because this film is 2 hours and 30 minutes, already you have your money worth for a film, to watch this film you don’t need to be a huge transformers fan or seen the first film. The director is Michael Bay, I think that he is a fantastic director due to the fact that, the film shots, the transformers, the special effects are extremely good, by the end of the film you will be walking out of the cinema amazed and start to believe that these transformers are real.

I personally think that this film is a great follow on and is even better than the first one, there is action from start to finish with a lot of witty humour, but it doesn’t stop at that there is the relationship between the main character called Sam who is played by Shia LaBeouf and Mikaela Banes who is played by the wonderful Megan Fox. My cousin who is 6 years old watches the first transformers all the time and is probably deing to see no.2, this shows that Transformers is for any ages and nationalities, because he is half Danish half Italian and can still understand the plot of Transformers 1 even though he can’t understand the words, and the plot of Transformers 2 is very clear to understand. I asked my Best friend his opinion on the film he is 15 years old and said “Megan Fox ahhh yeah” but then I asked about the actual film “um well I thought it was actually a good carry on from the first one, it carried on well, it had its ups and downs, and lots of funny moments when Seymour Simmons (former agent of the terminated Sector 7 unit, which monitored Transformer activity on Earth) ran up the pyramids for no apparent reason, and the red and green car” enough said. I would say there are a few bad things about it though, and that being that It is a bit to long and the most of Egypt other than that I thought that this an amazing film and will be waiting for the follow on to arrive at the cinemas.
